People made fun of her but she did not lose hope. Sonora efforts bear fruit when Spokane celebrated its first Father's Day on June 19, 1910 with the support of Spokane Ministerial Association and the local Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). In order to pay tribute to her Loving father, Sonora wished that father's day should be celebrated on June 5 as this was her father's birthday date but due to lack of preparation and time father's day festival was celebrated on third Sunday in month of June 5.
